Cenelec Certification Agreement

A great many international certification organizations, that are involved in the certification of electrical materials have signed agreements pertaining to the mutual acceptance of their inspection and test results: CENELEC Certification Agreement (CCA). All the national certification organizations in the European Union and the EFTA countries are united within the CCA

These agreements have been entered into in the context of CENELEC (Comité des Normes Européeenne d’Electricité, www.cenelec.org) and the IECEE (International Electrical Committee, www.IEC.ch). The agreements ensure that repeated inspections and tests during the testing procedures – and the affiliated cost for manufacturers and importers – are avoided. They are applicable to products where the standards that are employed for certification are identical or virtually identical. Supplementary inspections and tests remain necessary where the contents of the standards exhibit differences. International trade in electrical products is simplified considerably as a consequence of these agreements.

The CB Scheme, a mutual recognition of test results scheme, which operates worldwide. Manufacturers can easily obtain the mark of another CB Scheme member with a report from a member of the CB Scheme. Click here for the participating certification organizations. There are still many other countries without Notified Bodies or a certification system that accept CB member´s reports and test results.

Additional information is available at: http://www.iecee.org. You will also find information about which Notified Certification Bodies accept which reports and test results.
